Keon's First Birthday Party

HiHi...

Finally gonna update my blog! Hee... as mentioned on my previous post, I am busy attending parties. Yesterday, attended 2 birthday party. One in the afternoon, one in the evening and that is the end of May babies party. Happy Birthday to all May 2008 babies! Welcome all to the toddler club :)

Let me updates on Keon's party first.

Initially his party was supposed to be at Aloha Loyang but the venue was changed one week before the party because the Government had took over the operation of Aloha as Swine Flu quarantine area. With only one week, we had to find for alternative place, look thru several chalets but all are fully booked so we turns to restaurant and function room. Finally decided on Bottle Tree Park for its unique environment.

Although the whole process on booking Bottle Tree Seminar room was kinda rush but I was glad that the staffs that I spoken to are nice and friendly. I was also glad that they are very flexible and helpful too.

All in all, we had a great party, loves their shark fin soup, one of the best that I ever had.

Thank you to all who turns up, because of you this party was a successful one, because of your presence this party was warm and cosy.

^Guests were told to follow the balloons to the Seminar room as Bottle Tree Park was a big area so I used balloons to lead them but I totally forgotten that the helium-filled balloons wont last long under sunlight so by the time my guests were making their way in, these balloons had shrink.

Why no updates???

Reason for not updating my blog--> Parties!

Haha! Been busying attending birthday party and organising Keon's party and its not over still got parties to attend :)

Today we will be going to a BIG birthday party. Its a party that was organise my SMH forum May 2008 thread. We gonna have 30 birthday boys and girls. Cant imagine 30 babies in a party. I guess its going to be fun!

Will update again with all the parties that we attend and of cos my baby Keon's party once i sort out all the pics. Until then, have a nice weekends :)

Star Awards 2009

haha... Star Awards 2009 just started. Here my take on who will win and who should win.

Best Drama Serial
who will win: The Little Nyonya
who should win: I hope Prefect Cut will win cos I think the storyline is well-written as compare to OTT The Little Nyonya.

Best Actor
who will win: Tay Ping Hui
who should win: Chen Han Wei. No particular person with outstanding performance.

Best Actress
who will win: Jeanette Aw
who should win: Joanne Peh. Basically I think people watch little nyonya is because of her character rather than Jeanette Aw, just that Mediacorp focuses on Jeanette Aw on exposure.

Best Supporting Actor
who will win: Chew Chor Meng
who should win: Chew Chor Meng

Best Supporting Actress
who will win: Lin Mei Jiao
who should win: haha.. this one i will choose someone who is not norminated, Pan Ling Ling. I loves her performance in Prefect Cut, one of the best act from Mediacorp in recent years. I was totally touch by her performance in that show but too bad, Mediacorp are blind by Little Nyonya.

who will win: Guo Liang
who should win: Just give him, his long-awaited award!

Dining & Shopping @ VivoCity

Yesterday was Laoye off day so he brought us to VivoCity to dine and shop. Yesterday I finally got the courage and faith in Keon to let him walk around VivoCity. 

Keon had been fussing whenever we go shopping cos he will be confined to his stroller or our arms as I was worried to let him walk by himself anywhere except our home sweet home and also he do not has a proper shoe to wear. He got shoes at home but its either too big or too small or because it is hard sole which old folks said babies can only wear when they turn 1 year old. Keon was fussing again yesterday so with no other choice, we went to Fox to buy a pair of shoe for him.

When he first started out walking with shoes, it was so funny, he took 3 steps and sit on the floor to check on his new shoes and giving a "what is this" expression, he repeated this gesture for a couples of time and he do not dare to walk on his own. Then we held hand and walk together, I was extremely happy, the feeling of holding your child hand and walk together for the first time was just amazing! Slowly as we walked, he let go of my hand and he walked like a free bird, at this point, I got teary-eyes, tears of joy! Everyone who walked past him, slowed down and kept saying "he is so cute, so cute!!!" It just warmth my heart to see him becoming a toddler...

Keon's First Birthday Invitation

Keon 11th month milestone

So fast, my little boy is 11 months old. Keon is a fast learner, he no longer crawling, he is walking everywhere in the house even before he turns 1 year old!!! I am very proud of him!

Milestones that he had reached:

• walk
• call laoye "papa"
• only call me "mama" when he is desperate for me to carry him
• know how to say "baobao", "apple"
• understand what is "bye bye", "water", "eat", "no", "cannot", "give me", "pray", "kiss", "fly", "go kai kai"
• Finger feeds
• holds his own bottle even when walking
• knows how to walk to kitchen and ask the maid for water
• knows how to get down from bed
• knows how to use things to steps up and reach for things that he want
• wants to imitate our actions like pressing lift buttons, switching on lights, using tv controller etc
• and his favourite past time?.... digging wallets and bags!

He is turning 1 year old soon and I am busy with preparing for his big bash. Venue, theme, decor are done but still have so many things left undone such as guest lists, invitation card, catering, cake design, door gifts and his 'birthday suit" Time is running out, hopefully all be done by this weekend!

A letter to my two special friends...

To my two special friends,

First of all, congratulations on this very special day of yours. Thank you for inviting me, even though I cannot go but believe me, I hope I was there to witness the union of two hearts and souls. Knowing you guys, I know this day does not come by easy, both of you have been thru ups and downs together for so long, anyone who know you guys will have thought finally this day has come!

We have not met for so long due to that incident which I pray that it did not happen at all. Boy! It's been 2 years plus since that incident happened, time flies! Within these two years, once a while I will be thinking how are you guys doing, how we all used to spend weekends together and I will read thru my blog archives to remember the footprints you guys had left behind. Yes, I do miss both of you because you guys are such a special friends to us. I have to thank the advance technology because it allows me to see some little updates on both of you. He had changed so much after that incident. Some gain, some loss, I guess. I gain a better husband thru this incident and the kind of happiness for my gain is a dilemma as I know He had regretted so badly for what had happened on that very day and He cried and said He never know how to face you guys ever again and I keep blaming myself for his pain because it would not had happened if it's not for me. Because of me, He lost his two best friends, his brother, his sister who he had known for so long. I do not know when we are going to meet again but I do hope this day will come... and hopefully time will heal everything...

Cannot think of a right title, laoye grandfather had passed away yesterday and it was my mil birthday.

Although all of us are feeling sad but still we are happy for Gong Gong cos he had lived for 100 blissful years and everyone in the family went to see him in hospital before he pass away. The last time I saw him in the hospital, I break down, its never nice seeing someone in a dying state but he turns better on the day we visited him. He holds on for another 3 more days.

My memories of him is very little because I dun get to see him much, a memories that I will fondly remember is that he liked to show good sign whenever he sees me carrying Kiern to him when Kiern was a baby.

His funeral will be the first funeral that Kiern attend. Yesterday, Kiern do not understand what is happening, he refused to wear white tee and putting on the color cloths which will indicates how is he related to Gong Gong. So I took some time to explain to Kiern...

Me: "Do you know what is happening now?"

Kiern: "I don't know"

Me: "You see the photo, do you remember who he is?"

Kiern: "Yes"

Me: "Ok, Great-Grandfather had passed away, do you understand what is pass away?"

Kiern: "Yes it means go away."

Me: "Yes and you will not get to see him again and you need to wear white tee and put on the cloth to show respect."

When I told laoye what I had said to Kiern, he asked me why I dun said die? Maybe I just too sensitive, I feels that "die" this word is kinda of harsh. In the end, laoye told Kiern that Great-Grandfather had dies just like the fish he used to keep. Then Laoye asked if he knows what is die? That Kiern gave an expression - Eye balls looking up with a crook mouth. We all broke into laughter cos its very funny and I think he do understand what is going on now.

Keon Getting Down The Bed

March one week holiday 2009

Since i am not working and studying and since Keon is bigger and easier to handle now, I tried to plan a fruitful one week holiday for Kiern but sad to say its not as fruitful as I want it to be. This is how the one week goes...

Monday - Stay home and we do some painting. Kiern painted a garden and we also drew clown face on paper plates.

Tuesday - We waited for laoye to wake up and we went to amk hub. We went to Fish & Co for dinner and shop around.

Wednesday - I brought Kiern and Keon together with my sis to Botanical Garden. Have a fun but super hot day. I am still trying to teach Kiern what we saw at the Swan Lake is swans and not duck. Up till now he still insist that is duck. I told him that we will bring a photo of the swan to let his teacher see and ask his teacher what that is.

Thursday - Went for photoshoot. Nice cosy place with lots of fun. Kiern was extremely happy as he had a great time playing the props and playing with the photographer, Joyce.

Friday - Wii day

Saturday - Kiern was watching TV the whole day.

Sunday - Wii day and went to laoye cousins house. 

Wanted to bring Kiern to Little'Ozone@ OCC but keep postponing it due to some circumstances but promised him that I will bring him there this week. Got to sleep liao cos tomorrow school reopens for Kiern!!!

Keon is sick again...

Keon is having fever again. Maybe new teeth coming out, gonna check his mouth when he gets better.

Baby's Teething

As compare to Kiern, Keon had a hard time during teething. He had severe diarrhea which lasted for about a week or so. It was so severe that when i washed his butt each time he had diarrhea, he be crying and screaming because he was in pain. I guess the toxic or acid from diarrhea caused him to has a bad nappy rash. Some other symptoms that he experienced: 

1. Drooling 

2. fussiness 

3. biting behavior 

4. fever 

5. sleep problems

Keon drools a lot! I mean it! I have to keep changing his bib like every hour. Initially when he started drooling a lot, we never put on bib for him and he had a bad bout of rashes on his neck which he scratches till it bleed. *heart pain*

He is still fussing but much lesser now. Biting... he is putting everything that he can get hold of into his mouth. 

He had his first fever on 02/02/2009. He started showing signs of uncomfort on 01/02 when we went to cousin house. On that day, he was super fussy and he was a sleepyhead, he was sleeping most of the time and refused to eat and he only want me to carry which was unusual as he likes to be carry no matter by who. I had suspected that something was wrong and true enough, he woke up at 3am with a high fever. Brought him to a clinic first thing in the morning. Had a bad experienced with the clinic opposite my flat. The clinic assistant made me wait to get register, its not like she was super busy, she took her time to stick labels on the medicine bottles then took her time to put back patient record cards which she can jolly do it later after serving me. So all in all, she let me and my "fever" baby waited for about half and hour then she asked me to write down particulars as it was our first visit. After writing, she told me "come back at around 12.30pm" 

I asked her "What do you mean to come back around 12.30pm?" 

"Because we closed around that time and you are number 29, now is only number 7."

I felt like slapping her on the spot, first you made us wait then you never mentioned that there were a long queue and want us to go back to the clinic around your closing time?! Here I got a baby with high fever, any other clinic would have gave my baby priority to go see the doctor first because baby with fever is no joke! Those who are reading this now may think that I should know there was a long queue, seriously there was no way to tell as there was only about 10 people in the clinic and some of the 10 people are family. Anyway, I had blacklisted that clinic. In the end, I walked to my mum boss clinic few blocks away, should had went there right from the start, I was thinking to go the nearby clinic because my baby got fever, do not want him to expose to much to the sun and hot weather. Haiz...

Keon is still having sleeping problem, I am thinking whether to bring him for baby massage since they said it helps in baby sleep.

All the 1's are out. The lower 1's came out during January and the upper 1's came out this month. 

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's to everyone!!!

Just when I was "complaining" at SMH forum that laoye is not those romantic guy, he is one practical guy who will ask straight into my face "what you want?", even when it comes to buying diamond ring, he just brought me to the jewelry shop and said "choose yourself", no surprise at all from him. Then surprise surprise, yesterday he went for a workshop at Hilton hotel, after he finished the workshop, he called to tell me that he be going to Sim Lim but 45 minutes later, he appeared at home and said he hidden something in a corner in our bedroom (I'm in Kiern room) and want me to find it. Less than 5 minutes and I found it le. He bought a necklace for me. He made my day! Not because of that necklace he bought, I am happy because he finally surprised me after I complained for so long, I will be happy even if he just surprise me with a card full of his thoughts. Anyway, I hope this will not be the last surprise I get from him!

Happy 9 months old!!!

Happy 9 months old my baby Keon!!! Time files, 3 more months and Keon will be 1 year old. I had started planning for his birthday. Had booked aloha loyang sea view terrace and is now searching for his first birthday supplies and still thinking should I engage a balloon sculptor or magician? Had also booked a photo shoot to be done before his party so that guest can see how much my Keon grow but I am thinking of changing to another studio, which means I have to sell my slot to another person. Haiz.. cant make up my mind or should I just bring him to 2 photo shoot?

Kids Say the Darndest Thing

As usual, my naughty Kiern said some stuffs that made us laugh our head off.

On new year eve, 31 December 2008, we went to Marina Country Club to have our dinner as it was Laoye birthday. On the way back home, my brother-in-law drove.

Kiern: "Mummy, why is 2nd uncle driving?"

I was curious why he said that as it was not our first time in a car that was drove by my brother-in-law.

Me:"Why did you ask? Yes 2nd uncle is driving."

Kiern:"Because he cannot drive, only ah gong can drive." 

It was my father-in-law car as he drank beer during the dinner so my brother-in-law took over the wheels.

Me: "Why he cannot drive? Ah gong drink beer so he cannot drive."

Kiern: "Because later he make spoilt the car."

All of us started laughing because my brother-in-later did damage the car for quite a number of time.

Brother-in-law started the car and slowly we made our way out of Marina Country Club. Then my Kiern started nagging at the back of my ear saying my brother-in-law cannot drive.

Kiern: "2nd uncle cannot drive because he will go the wrong way."

Me: "Can you just please keep quiet and sit still, 2nd uncle won't go the wrong way."

Then we came to a junction, where need to turn either right or left, my brother-in-law turned right.

Kiern: "He go the wrong way!"

Me: "Aiya, he going the right way, you don't worry, ah gong is sitting beside him, ah gong will tell him where to go."

After turning right at the junction, we found that the road looks different.

Father-in-law: "Ivan, I think you should have turn right just now at the junction, we are at the wrong direction"

Kiern: "SEE, I TOLD YOU SO!"

Gosh! I not sure whether Kiern really knows the way as it was his first time there, that why  he keep insisting my brother-in-law went the wrong direction but Kiern do have great sense of direction, you show him the way 1 time then he will some how remember. 

When I gave birth to Keon last year, he was there during the labour night 1 time and the next day, he knew how to go about the hospital and he ran straight to my ward when he arrived, never wait for my mother-in-law and my mother-in-law thought that he will go to the wrong ward or lost his way even the nurse thought he went to the wrong ward and wanted to tease him but she was surprised that he went to the right one! 

I still remember when my house was renovating last year July, I drove back and Kiern was with me. It was my first time driving to my then- new flat and I am a super- direction idiot aka lu chi. So I turned in 1 carpark earlier and Kiern keep saying "no no, mummy wrong way wrong way." and i keep insisting that i am right! Only to realised, i am indeed wrong so i drove out and Kiern was pointing to the next carpark, "there mummy! turn this way!" He was not even 3 years old at that point of time as it happened 1 month before his birthday.
