FTWM vs SAHM

FTWM = Full Time Working Mother

SAHM = Stay At Home Mum

This have been my dilemma for the past one month. I enjoyed working but my kids are at the stage where they need me. Keon is in his terrible 2 stage where he is throwing his temper most of the time, Kiern is going to be in K2 next year and after which he needs to go primary 1 which i felt that he wasnt ready for it.

Laoye is asking me to stay at home too as his job takes his time away from the kids quite a lot, he felt that one of us should stay at home and be with the kids and that person of course is me.

The reason that i chose to work is to provide for my parents, i always felt that i should have done much more as a daughter so working allows me to give them money to help ease their financial burden.

The reason that i want to be sahm is of cos, my boys! I wanted to be there to guide them in their this stage of life, i wanted to cook for them, to tell bedtime story to them every night.

gosh! If only i could work from home!

It's been so long since my last post!

It's a good 2 months since i last updated my blog.

Have been really busy with work and even if I have free time, it's always spend with my babies or doing household chores.

Keon is now 17 months old. Next month he be ready for childcare centre. Have been hunting for childcare centre around my area, will be checking out for more details on those short-listed childcare centre. At this stage, Keon is very active and naughty. I am trying to discipline him because he likes to do things his way and nobody discipline him if I am working, reason being he is the king in my in laws house. This always make me guilty for not being there for him, to teach him. haiz.. parents are not easy to be.

As for Kiern, he is into drawing nowadays and he is pretty good at it. We are trying to enrol him for piano lesson. I have left my contact with a teacher but waiting for piano teacher to get back to me.

Kiern the Little Grown Up

Time flies... yes time flies sooo fast.

My Kiern gonna be 5 years old soon. He still look like a kid to me but the way he talk remind me that he is growing.

He now talks like a little grown up and I find it fascinating!

Conversation 1
While going out shopping, Laoye was very angry with Kiern because he cant keep his eyes off toys, tv etc in the mall that made him cant keep up with us.
Laoye: I am very angry with you today. Why cant you just follow us?
Kiern: I also very very very angry with you. Why you dont follow me?
Me: Kiern, papa is angry because you keep stopping to watch tv and dun want to walk.
Kiern: I also angry with him. You can wait for a minute, when I'm finish, we can go.
*At that point of time, it made me realised, we got no right to be angry with him. He is right, why must the kid be the one to follow us, adult pace, and why not the other way round? Since we are in the mall then what are we rushing at? It also made me realised how fast our Singapore life pace are, at times it will be nice to slow down our pace and look at the surrounding just like Kiern did.


Conversation 2
Kiern unintentionally made Keon falls.
Me: You cannot scold, beat or snatch things from didi. He is still a baby, he dun understand many things because he is learning. You as a kor kor must teach him nicely like a teacher just like how your teacher teaches you.
After a while, I scolded Keon for climbing up a chair.
Kiern: Mummy you cannot scold didi! He dun understand what you were saying. He is just a baby, you cannot scold him, you must teach him.

Conversation 3
The maid put many toys into the playpen when Keon was in there.
Kiern: Auntie! You cannot put so many toys into the playpen, later didi will knock his head!

Conversation 4
The maid never cut his noodle
Kiern: Auntie, why you never cut the mee for me? Like that it is very difficult for me to chew!

Conversation 5
The maid forgot to switch off the toilet light which is in the noon.
Kiern: Auntie, why you never switch off the toilet light? Now still got sun and nobody is in there!
The maid dun understand what he says.
Kiern: Auntie, I asked you to switch off the light, why you still never switch it off?!

Conversation 6
Mother in law forgets to cut apple for him which she promised him that she will do it.
Kiern: auntie, make milk for ah ma.
Mil: why make milk for me?
Kiern: because ah ma is getting old.

Conversation 7
Just happen today, when we came back home. After I bath and changed him.
Kiern whispered: Mummy i think we need to go mama( aka granny) house.
Me: go mama house for what?
Kiern still whispering: becos we need to take the cake, is yiyi birthday today, remember?
Me: No yiyi birthday is on friday.
Kiern still whispering: maybe we can buy the cake first and put it in the fridge.
Me: why must buy and put it in the fridge, her birthday is on friday.
Kiern: Then you must remember to buy the cake becos is yiyi birthday.
Me: why are you whispering? Is this a surprise?
Kiern still whispering: yes its a surprise, must buy the cake and put it in the fridge.
Me: ok ok........

New Job New Role New Changes...

Haven been blogging due to work.

Yes I finally started working!!!

I went for interview on 12 June and started working on 15 June.

I went interview for Customer Service cum Course co-ordinator position. Life at work is busy but not stressful. My 2 boys are of cos at home with mother-in-law and maid but i gonna do without a maid soon, going to put Keon to infant care cos too many maid problems!!!

People at work are fun! Shortly I gonna change my job scope le or should i said i already slowly moving to the other job scope, most people in the company said is "promotion" even one joked that "work 1 month you promoted wah! then you work 12 months promote 12 times" but i wont said it is a promotion yet cos its still not official yet and by means of official is...... those who knows what happening will know what i means by "officially promoted" hehe. Anyway i'll be working as a PA, as 1 said "you are now under management". If the promotion is official then i would said luck really plays a big part, i really just so happen to be in a right place at a right time. I went in and was trained by this wonderful lady called Gracie. She worked as a PA as well as in charge of front counter. She taught me a lot but sad to say that she is leaving after this month so this is where I means that i happens to be at the right place and time. Yes! I be taking over her duty. I am still under her training, hopefully i wont let her down.

Party 8th Stop 24th May 2009 - Jorel's Party

Jorel's party was held at Eatzi@Yishun Safra. I was blown away when i reached the venue. The decor was very very nice. Eric (Jorel's dad) really put in a lot of effort to decorate the whole place! The theme of the party is carebear. The cake is very very nice too! Even the party favour was very well packed, it was a well-planned party! It was nice to spend a lovely afternoon in the party!

Party 6th & 7th Stop, 16 May 2009 - SMH May 2008 Bash & Shaine's Party

Imagine a place full of 30 babies and 30 set of parents? Chaotic? Yes! Fun? Yes!
May Bash was held at Gymboree Harbour Front. Finally get to see all the babies in real life which I used to see only in the forum. It's been a year, or should I say 2 year? Because we mummies started to chat about our babies since 2007 when one by one found out that we were pregnant and due date will be May 2008. That's how our journey began, the support, the knowledge, the ups and downs that we share, the never-ending "poison"... all happens in a world called cyber!

Although Keon is my 2nd child but I still learn lotsa of new things from the forum. The mummies in the forum are the one who keep me sane especially for the first 4 months of Keon life as I was alone to juggle 2 kids. It was no easy feat! I was crying everyday and sometimes when Keon cried I will hide in one corner and covered my ears and squat down and cried. Everyday I felt lousy because I cant seems to get things done and so worried that i do not feed keon well, worried about the quantity of milk i produce everyday. Wake up, pump milk, sterilize bottles, wash clothes, bf keon, bath for keon, bf Keon, wake Kiern up, cook lunch, make keon sleep, bath for kiern, feed kiern, bf keon, fetch kiern to school, play with keon, make keon sleep, pump milk, hang clothes, bf keon, go fetch kiern, all was done before 2.45pm... everyday my life is like that so many to do but so little time. So what i do when i think i going crazy? I rant in the forum and all these amazing ladies gave me advice, taught me how to produce more milk (yes we were like cow!), console me, supporting me thru their computer. Love them much!

Shaine's party was right after the May Bash. It was at Sentosa Trapizza. Keon, Kiern and I was the party crasher but we do enjoyed ourselves especially Kiern cos he made new foreigner friends while playing on the beach. Keon KO a little while after we arrived. Shaine is a sweet lil princess. She is very cute with her nice thick black hair!

Party 5th Stop, 10 May 2009 - Damien's aka Commando Party

This is the third time I attend a birthday party in McDonald but it was first time for my 2 boys.
It was a fuss-free, cozy party as we get to talk and eat in peace while watching our babies being "trapped" in the play yard. I guess all babies feel happy rather then "trapped" as they got each other to play with. And not forgetting how little Keon tried to take advantage of Rachel by hugging her!

We adult enjoy ourselves and so do all the babies. And not forgetting a memorable cake cutting session! Damien was asleep thru out the cake cutting. Nothing can wake him up from his beauty sleep. He is indeed our little commando!
